Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Maizuru District Headquarters’s Main Auditorium / Navy Memorial Museum

The former Naval Engineering School’s main auditorium, constructed in 1933. The Naval Engineering School, originally located in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, was damaged in the Great Kanto Earthquake and was relocated to Maizuru in 1925. The main auditorium, built with the latest technology of the time, is a beautiful building with scratch tiles. The Navy Memorial Museum, which covers part of the main auditorium space, displays over 200 items related to the Navy, including materials about Admiral Heihachiro Togo, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Maizuru Naval District. The museum is open to the public.
