Japan Marine United Corporation, Maizuru Office

This is a facility of the former Maizuru Naval Arsenal, which was established in 1906 as a factory for the manufacturing, repair, and development of naval vessels. The second dock (currently called Dock No. 3), completed in 1914, was the largest dock in Japan at the time of its completion. Factories built from brick during the Meiji and Taisho periods, and the massive cranes from the arsenal era, are still in operation. As it is generally not open to the public, taking a sightseeing boat for a view from the sea is recommended.
